The California beer company is expanding into Philadelphia through Penn Beer Sales & Service and Gopuff, testing whether its retail momentum can travel.
Fathers Brewing is entering Philadelphia this September through Penn Beer Sales & Service, making the city the organic lager company’s first market outside California. Fathers will be available through local retailers and Gopuff, which offers delivery in as fast as 15 minutes. The move extends a distribution strategy built around packaged beer and gives the young brand a new regional market in which to establish retail density.
Founded in 2025, Fathers describes itself as an independent American beer company focused on organic lagers. Its Clean American Lager and Clean American Light Lager use organic ingredients and traditional lager brewing techniques, with the company positioning both products around a clean, crisp drinking experience. The Philadelphia expansion comes less than one year after Fathers began selling packaged products.
The company says it is currently on pace for 672% year-over-year growth, driven by expanding retail distribution and same-store performance. Fathers is sold through Whole Foods Market, Sprouts Farmers Market, BevMo!, Gopuff, Total Wine & More and Costco. At Whole Foods, the brand says it ranks first among organic beer brands by sales per store in 2026, while its Costco locations have recorded more than 80% same-store sales growth since its launch there over Father’s Day weekend in June 2026.
Philadelphia also gives Fathers a locally recognisable commercial platform. Lane Johnson, the Philadelphia Eagles tackle, is an investor and ambassador, while chef and entrepreneur Robert Irvine is scheduled to join an Eagles home-opener tailgate on September 13, serving his take on a Philly cheesesteak. The combination of retail distribution, sports affiliation and a live food event places the brand’s market entry within the city’s established beer and fan culture.
Fathers’ broader expansion plan includes entering Southern California in 2027 while continuing to grow across Northern California, alongside a planned activation around Super Bowl LXI week in Southern California. Co-founder Conor Begley said the company wants to enter markets deliberately, build density and demonstrate repeat purchases before moving further. Philadelphia therefore serves as both a sales opportunity and a test of whether a Northern California organic lager proposition can gain traction in a different beer market.
