Denver Pride has roots stretching back to 1974, when the event began as a gathering of roughly 50 people in Cheesman Park, according to the announcement. The celebration is now produced by The Center on Colfax, which the release describes as a Rocky Mountain organisation providing safe and affirming programmes, services and spaces for the queer community. Visit Denver’s event guide describes the festival as running throughout June and as welcoming attendees regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
The 2026 schedule combines established signature events with smaller and more specialised gatherings. Pride Night at the Rockies is scheduled for Friday, June 5, 2026, while the Pride 5K and Bubbles and Boas brunch are scheduled for Saturday, June 27, 2026. The programme also includes a Juneteenth cookout on Friday, June 19, a queer hiking event at Staunton State Park on Sunday, June 14, and the Vizzy Denver Pride Parade on Sunday, June 28, 2026.
The range of activities gives the month a deliberately broad format, moving between sport, outdoor recreation, nightlife, books, food and public celebration. The release lists an adults-only book fair, a pet-focused Mutt Strut, a 1990s-themed tea dance and a dance music partnership with PlayHaus, alongside community events at Cheesman Park and activities at Larimer Square.
