The new facial sunscreens combine BEMT, UVA and UVB protection, and skincare ingredients as the brand targets a lighter daily-use experience.
Neutrogena is bringing its Cloud-Tech™ sunscreen technology to market in two facial products that combine bemotrizinol, or BEMT, with skincare ingredients and a lighter texture. Neutrogena® Clear Face Sunscreen SPF 60 and Neutrogena® Ultra Sheer Daily Face Sunscreen SPF 70 are positioned around comprehensive UVA and UVB protection alongside a finish designed to feel more like skincare. The move matters because it places product comfort and cosmetic appeal alongside protection in a category where texture can influence daily use.
Cloud-Tech™ uses BEMT with Neutrogena’s existing Helioplex360™ technology. Neutrogena describes BEMT as the first new ultraviolet filter approved in the United States in more than 25 years, while noting that approved concentrations of up to 6% require additional filters for comprehensive UVA and UVB coverage. The formulation approach reflects a narrow but important shift in facial sunscreen development: improving the wearing experience without moving away from high-SPF protection.
The two products apply the technology to different skin concerns. Clear Face Sunscreen SPF 60 is formulated for acne-prone skin and includes niacinamide and vitamin E, while Ultra Sheer Daily Face Sunscreen SPF 70 uses patented Micro-Peptide Technology to help hydrate skin and visibly improve signs of ageing. Neutrogena says both products offer a non-greasy feel that layers under make-up, with antioxidants intended to help defend against free radicals and the appearance of dark spots.
The launch also gives Neutrogena a way to connect sunscreen performance with the sensory cues associated with K-beauty. The company says Cloud-Tech™ was inspired by K-beauty sunscreens and is designed to provide a fast-drying, invisible texture with a silk finish. That positioning treats facial sunscreen not only as a protective step but as part of a broader skincare routine, while keeping the communication focused on the two specific formulas rather than a wider product range.
The products are available through Amazon, with nationwide retailer availability planned for October. Neutrogena’s Cloud-Tech™ logo is intended to identify products using the technology, giving the new platform a visible mark across its packaging. For the brand, the introduction extends its sunscreen proposition into a more skincare-oriented format, with the strongest claim resting on the combination of a newly approved filter, established protection technology and a lighter everyday feel.
