The 2026 edition expanded international participation and buyer connections, positioning Shanghai as a meeting point for hospitality suppliers, purchasers and global market entrants.
HOTELEX Shanghai, also presented in the release as HOTELEX Shanghai 2026 and the 34th Shanghai International Hospitality Equipment & Foodservice Expo, concluded at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) after running from 30 March to 2 April 2026. The event brought together hotel and catering suppliers, foodservice brands, buyers and industry professionals across a 400,000-square-metre exhibition. Organisers reported 4,018 global exhibitors and 303,576 professional visitors, making the show a significant commercial gathering for the hospitality and foodservice sectors.
The exhibition’s importance rested not only on its size but on the breadth of the categories represented. HOTELEX Shanghai covered hotel supplies, catering equipment, coffee and tea, baking and desserts, food raw materials, supply-chain services and central-kitchen equipment. The format linked professional procurement with consumer-facing experiences through 13 themed exhibition areas, while 33 forums and 17 international competitions extended the event beyond product display into discussion, skills and industry exchange.
International participation was a central feature of the 2026 edition. The release said 18,431 overseas visitors attended, up 48.08% year on year and representing 189 countries and regions, with Malaysia, South Korea and Russia among the leading sources. Three business-matching sessions focused on Malaysia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East and North America, connecting 117 buyers from 23 countries with 81 domestic exhibitors. In addition, 46 targeted buyer groups brought 4,323 VIP purchasers to the event, including buyers from Argentina, Australia, Germany and the United States.
Those figures suggest a trade-show model built around market access as much as exhibition traffic. HOTELEX Shanghai described the event as a bridge between global hotel and catering resources, supporting overseas practitioners seeking entry into the Chinese market while giving domestic exhibitors structured access to international buyers. The programme’s cross-border emphasis was reinforced by collaboration with industry associations and enterprises worldwide, and by 392 media partners that generated more than 329 million online exposures, according to the release.
The next edition is scheduled for 30 March to 2 April 2027 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). For HOTELEX Shanghai, the 2026 results provide a clear measure of the platform’s reach: participation extended across suppliers, purchasers, professional communities and international markets rather than remaining confined to a domestic exhibition floor. Its continuing proposition is therefore grounded in connecting hospitality commerce across borders, with Shanghai serving as the event’s recurring point of exchange.
