The Riviera Maya property’s seasonal calendar combines Mexican traditions, family activities, dining and wellness as it prepares to mark its 20th anniversary.
Fairmont Mayakoba has created a festive programme combining family celebrations, culinary experiences and a seasonal village at its Riviera Maya resort. The calendar begins on December 19 and blends familiar holiday rituals with Mexican cultural traditions across activities for children and adults. Its centrepiece is the Festive Village, scheduled to operate from December 19 to 30 with artisan-made goods, food and nightly entertainment. The programme positions the holiday period as both a hospitality offering and an introduction to the resort’s 20th-anniversary year in 2026.
A Christmas tree lighting on December 19 is set to open the Festive Village on Isla Lawn, accompanied by live music and illuminated decorations. The resort has also placed Mexican customs within the programme, from piñatas during seasonal gatherings to a Día de Reyes Magos celebration on January 6. The latter includes Rosca de Reyes, the traditional bread associated with Three Kings Day, alongside activities intended for families. Together, these elements give the calendar a local frame rather than treating the Riviera Maya solely as a backdrop for conventional festivities.
For younger guests, the Balam and Coatí Kids’ Clubs will offer daily activities including nutcracker workshops, letters to Santa and the creation of New Year’s Eve headbands. The adult programme extends to the Fairmont Spa & Wellness Center, where seasonal options include an Agave Soul Polish using local tequila and blue agave, as well as a Temazcal Ritual centred on cleansing and connection. This division of activities allows the resort to address different age groups while maintaining a common emphasis on participation and shared traditions.
The New Beginnings Celebration on December 31 carries the anniversary theme through an event titled Runway to 2026: 20 Years of Fairmont Mayakoba. An adults-only party is also scheduled for Cielo Rooftop, with an open bar, DJ sets, entertainment and a midnight toast overlooking the mangroves and Caribbean shoreline. General manager Jacco Van Teeffelen described the season as a time for connection, honouring traditions and creating memories, while encouraging guests to engage with the property’s heritage.
Fairmont Mayakoba plans to continue its anniversary focus throughout 2026 with a year-long programme spanning culinary work, cultural experiences and further development at the resort. The festive calendar therefore serves as more than a cluster of year-end activities, linking hospitality programming with the property’s stated interest in heritage and its next operational milestone. By combining scheduled celebrations with children’s workshops, wellness rituals and culturally specific occasions, Fairmont Mayakoba is framing the season as a broad resort experience shaped by its Riviera Maya setting.
