The appointments bring US and Canadian operations under a broader structure, giving Generali Global Assistance a unified leadership framework across key travel segments.
Generali Global Assistance has reshaped its North American leadership structure, promoting Chris Carnicelli to chief executive officer for the region and Paul-Adrien Maizener to chief executive officer of the United States. The changes bring the company’s US and Canadian operations into a more closely aligned framework spanning Generali Global Assistance, Trip Mate and Europ Assistance Canada. The move places leadership design at the centre of the company’s stated growth plans for travel protection solutions.
Carnicelli will oversee operations in both countries, with Rob Iafrate, chief executive officer of Europ Assistance Canada, reporting directly to him. Maizener, previously chief operating officer, will lead Generali Global Assistance in the United States with responsibility for operational performance, customer experience and scalable growth. The structure also links the two national markets more directly under a single regional remit.
The company has also expanded Henrik Romberg’s responsibilities. In addition to the Vacation Rental, online travel agency and Retail business lines operated under Generali Global Assistance, he will oversee Trip Mate’s Tour & Cruise business. Romberg will report to Maizener, creating a direct connection between the US chief executive and commercial activities serving several travel-related distribution channels.
Generali Global Assistance said the revised organisation is intended to strengthen collaboration between North American teams and support its transformation roadmap. Its stated focus includes improving coordination across markets while continuing to serve partners and customers with travel insurance and assistance services. The appointments therefore represent an organisational response to the breadth of the company’s portfolio rather than a change to a single product.
The leadership changes illustrate how travel-protection providers are organising around multiple customer routes, from tour and cruise businesses to vacation rentals, online travel agencies and retail. For Generali Global Assistance, the immediate emphasis is on defining clearer regional and country-level accountability while retaining the existing business lines within the structure. That approach gives the company a formal platform for pursuing its North American growth ambitions.
