The new venture has acquired Meadowlark Ski & Lake Lodge, pairing a Bighorn National Forest property with a hospitality model centred on its setting and seasonal character.
MAS Tierra, a newly formed hospitality venture operating under Miami-based investment firm MAS Alpha Securities, has acquired Meadowlark Ski & Lake Lodge in Wyoming’s Bighorn National Forest. The property is administered through a special use authorisation with the Bighorn National Forest, and the acquisition is the first initiative under the MAS Tierra banner. The announcement places a long-established mountain destination at the centre of a new investment platform focused on experiences shaped by their physical surroundings.
The lodge has served skiers, riders and outdoor enthusiasts for decades, according to the release, with access to alpine skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, horseback riding and the wider terrain of the Bighorn range. Its setting gives the transaction a different profile from a conventional accommodation purchase, because the property’s identity is closely tied to a protected landscape and the activities available across changing seasons. The release describes the acquisition as the opening chapter for the property under new stewardship.
MAS Tierra founder Jose Mas Jr. said the venture intends to bring Meadowlark Ski & Lake Lodge to life through an experience-based approach guided by the surrounding terrain and seasonal rhythms. The lodge is reported as set to open for the 2026–2027 winter season, although the release does not provide operating dates, pricing or details of any planned changes to rooms, facilities or services. Proposed experiential elements include excursions, nature exploration and guided tours through open terrain.
That emphasis reflects the narrow strategic proposition set out in the announcement: adding value through a deeper connection between hospitality and place rather than separating the guest experience from its landscape. Mas said the aim was to preserve the property’s integrity and atmosphere while expanding its offering, and described the Bighorn National Forest as an environment that cannot be replicated. Acting Forest Supervisor Amy Ormseth said the Forest Service welcomed partners who approached the land with respect for its history while bringing new communities to the region.
The acquisition also establishes a test case for MAS Tierra’s stated focus on place-based, land-led experiences in significant natural landscapes. Meadowlark Ski & Lake Lodge is identified as the venture’s inaugural property, while the release characterises the transaction as the first phase of a longer-term vision for the Bighorn area. For now, the announcement provides a clear direction but limited operational detail: the venture’s next public measure will be how that direction is translated into the lodge’s reported 2026–2027 winter-season opening.
