See Monterey is framing Monterey County’s summer 2026 offer around a broad definition of wellness, ranging from extended restorative journeys to shorter, activity-led escapes. In a release dated June 23, 2026, the tourism organisation described the destination’s 12 communities as places where visitors can unplug, recharge and set their own pace. The proposition links the county’s coastal, rural and cultural settings with a travel experience built around personal choice rather than a single wellness format.
The announcement places that range within Monterey County’s Central Coast landscape, where deep-sea canyons, oceanfront communities and fog-swept valleys create distinct settings for travel. See Monterey President and CEO Rob O’Keefe said the county’s summer weather, natural beauty and set-your-own-pace experiences allow visitors to define wellness for themselves. The statement presents presence and disconnection from daily noise as central themes, while keeping the focus on the destination’s existing hospitality and leisure offer.
In Big Sur, the release highlights Alila Ventana Big Sur’s Alila Experiences programme, including archery beneath redwoods, beekeeping and wildcrafting. It also points to Esalen Institute, Post Ranch Inn’s planned reimagined spa, and the Henry Miller Memorial Library as parts of a landscape that combines self-discovery, silence and participation.
