The company’s Framingham terminal brings check-in, baggage handling and TSA screening outside Logan, reflecting a distributed approach to expanding airport capacity.
The Landline Company, known as Landline, has partnered with Massport to power and operate the Logan Airport Remote Terminal at Framingham, Massachusetts. Announced on May 18, 2026, the facility is described by the companies as North America’s first off-airport security checkpoint. Passengers flying with Delta Air Lines or JetBlue Airways can check in, drop their bags and clear TSA security closer to home before travelling directly to the secure side of Boston Logan International Airport.
The arrangement extends the airport beyond its conventional terminal footprint rather than treating Logan as a single point of access. Massport introduced the Framingham terminal as part of its long-term strategy to expand access to Boston Logan Airport, while Landline presents the model as a way to create additional entry points for passengers in the region. The release also places the project against a backdrop of rising airport demand, stating that US airports welcomed one billion passengers in 2025 and that annual throughput is expected to reach 1.5 billion by 2040.
At the remote terminal, travellers complete several steps that would normally take place at Logan. Landline says the service combines passenger check-in, baggage handling and TSA-screened transport, with screening conducted by the Transportation Security Administration using federally approved procedures. Delta passengers are dropped airside at Terminal A, Gate A18, while JetBlue passengers are taken to Terminal C, Gate C8, according to the release. The service is available to book through Massport’s remote-terminal programme.
The operational significance lies in relocating part of the airport journey without removing the security requirements attached to it. The companies say passengers starting in Framingham can avoid driving to Logan’s main curb, moving baggage through the primary terminal and joining its central security queues before boarding transport to the airport. The programme is being advanced in coordination with the TSA, Delta Air Lines and JetBlue Airways to ensure compliance with federal security requirements, according to the announcement.
For Landline, the Framingham project broadens an operating model that already combines ground transport with elements of the airline journey. The company says it works with partners including American Airlines, Air Canada and Sun Country Airlines across North America, has carried more than one million passengers and expects roughly 175 daily departures during its largest summer schedule. The Massport partnership therefore positions the remote terminal as a specific extension of an existing approach: connecting airport processes with communities before passengers reach the main hub.
