A collaboration with recipe developer Carolina Gelen brings chocolate-covered cranberry sauce to the gifting and dessert table, giving a familiar Thanksgiving staple a new role.
Ocean Spray has partnered with chocolatier Compartés and recipe developer Carolina Gelen to launch Chocolate Covered Cranberry Sauce, a limited-edition confection inspired by Gelen’s social media recipe. The collaboration pairs Ocean Spray Jellied Cranberry Sauce with Compartés chocolate, turning an idea originally made at home into a ready-made product for holiday gifting and sharing.
The launch gives cranberry sauce a different place in the Thanksgiving meal. Its familiar flavour remains central, but the chocolate coating and boxed presentation move it towards dessert and gifting. For Ocean Spray, the collaboration offers a way to demonstrate another use for an established product without asking consumers to learn an entirely unfamiliar ingredient.
Gelen first shared the recipe in 2023. According to the announcement, it has attracted more than 10 million views, with viewers also recreating the combination themselves. That history gives the collaboration a specific starting point: an idea consumers had already watched and tried, now developed into a product they can buy.
Compartés worked closely with Gelen to translate the recipe into a handcrafted treat. The pairing relies on the contrast between cranberry sauce’s tartness and the richness of chocolate, a balance both Gelen and Compartés chief chocolatier Jonathan Grahm highlighted in the announcement. Keeping the sauce itself at the centre of the confection also makes the connection to the original recipe clear.
The four-pack launched on November 4 and is available exclusively through Compartes.com for US$24.95 while supplies last. Its limited availability and presentation position it as a seasonal purchase for hosts, gift buyers and shoppers curious about the combination. The release does not announce a wider grocery rollout.
The collaboration also extends to Compartés’ signature chocolate turkeys, which will be filled with Ocean Spray Whole Berry Cranberry Sauce. Available in dark or milk chocolate and finished with a Compartés ribbon, the turkeys apply the same flavour pairing to a format designed for holiday place settings and dessert tables.
Together, the products show how a familiar seasonal food can take on a new role through a change in preparation and presentation. The partnership connects a creator’s recipe with Ocean Spray’s recognisable ingredient and Compartés’ chocolate-making expertise, giving an online idea a route into holiday shopping. For Ocean Spray, the result is a focused extension of cranberry sauce beyond the side dish, while retaining the flavour and familiarity that made the original recipe distinctive.
