Gerberlyte brings a USDA Organic-certified oral rehydration solution into the baby aisle, broadening Gerber’s offer for families managing children’s hydration needs.
Gerber is extending its early-childhood nutrition range beyond mealtime with Gerberlyte, a USDA Organic-certified paediatric oral rehydration solution designed for children experiencing mild-to-moderate dehydration caused by illness, intense activity or heat. The product is made with organic coconut water and includes electrolytes and zinc, with 25% of the daily value of zinc in each 12-fluid-ounce serving. Gerber positions the product as a simpler hydration option for parents seeking a child-friendly taste and familiar brand credentials.
Gerberlyte is the first USDA Organic-certified paediatric oral rehydration solution, according to Gerber, and is intended to support hydration rather than serve as an everyday beverage. The company says its formulation rehydrates faster than beverages such as juice or sports drinks, while avoiding artificial dyes and artificial sweeteners. Colours are derived from natural sources, and the range is designed around three flavours: Strawberry Kiwi, Berry Blend and Tropical Punch.
The product is available nationwide in the baby aisle in two formats: 32-fluid-ounce multiserve bottles with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $5.49, and four-packs of 4-fluid-ounce bottles priced at $4.49. Prices may vary by retailer. The packaging and format choices give the product both a larger home-use option and smaller bottles intended for convenient serving, while the flavour range places the product within the familiar presentation of children’s food and drink.
Gerberlyte also sits within a broader effort by Gerber to expand its organic foods and simplify more than half of its portfolio. The company says the work covers purées, cereals, toddler meals and snacks including Lil’ Crunchies, Yogurt Melts and Puffs, with changes including reduced added sugar and no artificial preservatives. New packaging is intended to make ingredients, nutritional benefits and existing certified-quality claims more visible, with families expected to see revised recipes and packaging through early 2027.
The move gives Gerber a way to apply its established position in early-childhood nutrition to a need that arises outside regular feeding occasions. It also links a new hydration product with a wider portfolio transition focused on organic offerings, clearer packaging and simpler recipes. For Gerber, the significance lies less in adding another flavoured drink than in extending the brand’s role into a specific care moment while keeping the product within the baby-aisle context.
