A partnership with Combined Technologies gives North American supplement brands a way to adopt Boardio through a contract packer.
Graphic Packaging is making its Boardio paperboard canister available to North American supplement brands through Combined Technologies, Inc. (CTI). The Indiana contract packer gives brands a way to use the format for products such as vitamins, gummies and powders without buying their own packaging equipment.
The canister is made primarily from paperboard and comes in several sizes. CTI offers different barriers against oxygen and moisture, including options for products that need more protection. Graphic Packaging says the format can use more than 90% less plastic than rigid plastic cans, depending on how the finished pack is configured.
The change also gives brands a different surface to work with. Graphics can wrap around the canister and print directly onto it, giving brands room for product information and directions alongside the design. The pack can be stacked and reclosed, features that matter both on the shelf and once a customer brings it home.
CTI will help brands choose the size and barrier for their product from its facility in Bristol, Indiana. That service connects the shelf design to the practical question behind a packaging switch: how to protect the contents and get the new pack filled.
