The Gulfstream G550 becomes Northern Jet’s largest aircraft, extending its private aviation offering towards longer, more spacious and more connected journeys.
Northern Jet has added a Gulfstream G550 to its FAA Part 135 operating certificate, making it the company’s first ultra-long-range aircraft and the largest jet in its fleet to date. Announced on July 22, 2026, the addition expands the operator’s stated private aviation capabilities with greater range, cabin space and flexibility for travel across North America and to destinations worldwide. It marks a move into a larger aircraft class while remaining within the company’s existing charter and aircraft-management operations.
The G550 is presented as a platform for longer private journeys, with an approximate range of 6,500 nautical miles. Northern Jet says that capability is suited to coast-to-coast travel, transatlantic missions and extended itineraries spanning multiple regions and time zones. The announcement places the aircraft within a private aviation market where fewer stops, larger cabins and the ability to maintain productivity during travel are central considerations for executive, family and group passengers.
According to the release, the aircraft has a stand-up cabin with multiple living areas intended to support productivity, dining, relaxation and rest. It can accommodate up to 14 passengers and includes Starlink high-speed Wi-Fi, while its baggage compartment can be accessed during flight. Those features are described as supporting longer trips by combining passenger capacity, onboard connectivity and additional space with the G550’s long-range performance.
For Northern Jet, the aircraft adds mission capability as well as physical scale. The company describes the G550 as broadening the travel options available to its clients, including more direct connections between business and leisure destinations. Chief executive Chris Bull said the aircraft reflects Northern Jet’s continued growth, its aircraft-management capabilities and its focus on changing client travel needs; the release also links the addition to continued investment in the company’s heavy and large-cabin fleet.
The G550 extends a fleet strategy centred on more space, greater range and options for complex travel needs, while introducing ultra-long-range capability to Northern Jet for the first time. The company says it has 31 years of private aviation experience and operates as an ARGUS Platinum charter operator and Wyvern Wingman PRO certified operator. Its broader offering includes jet and helicopter charter, jet-card memberships, fractional ownership and turnkey aircraft management, giving the new aircraft a role across several parts of its private aviation business.
