The partnership with Maine’s tourism office turns destination content into tailored itineraries, connecting travel inspiration with practical planning across the state.
Mindtrip has partnered with the Maine Office of Tourism to integrate conversational AI into VisitMaine.com, turning the state’s destination content into personalised, actionable travel itineraries. Announced on May 5, 2026, the collaboration is designed to help travellers move from browsing ideas to planning complete trips. The service covers interests ranging from coastal escapes and scenic road trips to outdoor activities, arts, culture and historic sites.
The arrangement places an AI planning layer within an established tourism website rather than presenting travellers with a separate destination guide. According to Mindtrip, visitors can ask questions based on their interests and needs, including where to stay for a fall foliage road trip, when and where to kayak or hike, or which coastal towns suit arts, culture and dining. The release frames the partnership around Maine’s year-round experiences and the diversity of its regions.
Mindtrip said its system will provide immediate recommendations and generate custom itineraries with curated imagery, interactive maps, distance estimates and sequenced stops. The content is intended to spotlight local businesses, attractions and lesser-known destinations across The Kennebec Valley, Maine’s MidCoast & Islands, Lakes & Mountains, the Maine Highlands, Greater Portland & Casco Bay, the Maine Beaches, Aroostook County, and DownEast & Acadia. The Maine Office of Tourism describes itself as a state agency within the Department of Economic and Community Development.
The announcement illustrates how destination marketing organisations are beginning to use conversational interfaces to make large volumes of travel information easier to navigate. For Maine, the stated focus is not simply on inspiration, but on translating the material already available through VisitMaine.com into recommendations that reflect an individual traveller’s questions. For Mindtrip, the project extends its business offering to another tourism organisation after partnerships cited in the release with Brand USA, Visit Costa Rica, Discover Puerto Rico, Visit California, Travel Nevada and regional and city destinations.
Mindtrip co-founder and chief executive Andy Moss said the company’s technology is intended to reduce the friction between imagining a trip and assembling one, while Maine Office of Tourism director Carolann Ouellette said the partnership would present the state’s landscapes, communities and stories in a more personal format. The release does not provide pricing or separate booking terms for the integration. Its immediate significance is therefore the placement of AI-assisted discovery and itinerary creation inside VisitMaine.com, giving the tourism office another way to organise Maine’s broad travel proposition for individual visitors.
