The Idaho destination is restoring lift access for summer recreation ahead of schedule, underscoring the operational importance of reliable year-round mountain infrastructure.
Tamarack Resort announced that its Tamarack Express chairlift was scheduled to reopen to the public on Saturday, July 4, 2026, four days ahead of its original July 8 target. The repaired lift is intended to restore access to mountain biking, scenic hiking and Mid-Mountain Lodge ahead of the holiday weekend and the upcoming Big Mountain Enduro. For Tamarack, the reopening reconnects several of its summer attractions while demonstrating the practical importance of lift infrastructure beyond the winter ski season.
The reopening follows the completion of a lift-tower replacement carried out in partnership with manufacturer Leitner-Poma. Tamarack’s Mountain Operations team also worked with Granite Excavation, ALLWEST Testing & Engineering, Knife River and Salmon River Helicopters on the project and required inspections, according to the release. Chief Operating Officer Kara Finley said safety remained the priority and that the resort had received approval to resume operations.
Tamarack Express was reported to be resuming seven-day-a-week operations, with service scheduled for 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, July 4–5, 2026. Mid-Mountain Lodge was scheduled to open those days from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with grab-and-go food, bar service and an outdoor barbecue. The lodge’s regular schedule was reported to resume thereafter, with a summer barbecue and live-music series scheduled to begin on Saturday, July 11, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The timing also places the lift’s return just ahead of the Big Mountain Enduro, scheduled for July 10–11, 2026. The release said the event, which returned after its 2025 debut, would offer free registration and complimentary camping, while riders could use a Tamarack All Season Pass, LOAM Pass or purchase a bike-haul ticket. Purchases during the event were reported to include a $20 food-and-beverage voucher redeemable at Mid-Mountain Lodge, tying lift access to the resort’s wider summer programme.
With Tamarack Express back in service, the resort said guests could again access lift-served mountain biking, scenic chairlift rides, hiking and lodge events, alongside golf, boating and watersports on Lake Cascade. Tamarack describes itself as an all-season destination offering recreation, real estate, vacation rentals, event space and an alpine village across 4,400 acres approximately 90 miles north of Boise, Idaho. The chairlift reopening therefore represents a focused infrastructure update, but one that supports the resort’s broader effort to operate across multiple seasons.
