The combination with Maverick Hotels & Restaurants gives Waterford a portfolio of more than 50 properties and broader reach across several US hospitality markets.
Waterford Hotel Group has combined with Maverick Hotels & Restaurants in a strategic merger that brings the two hospitality operators’ portfolio to more than 50 properties. The transaction is intended to strengthen operating scale, broaden geographic reach and support long-term value creation for hotel owners, investors and guests. For Waterford, the deal marks an expansion of its platform beyond its established Eastern US presence and into a wider national operating footprint.
The enlarged business will manage properties spanning New England, the Midwest and South Central regions, with Maverick’s portfolio particularly concentrated in Chicago. Waterford’s existing assets include full-service hotels, convention centres and boutique New England inns, while Maverick contributes experience across boutique hotels, full-service resorts and culinary programming. The combination therefore brings together two operators with overlapping hospitality capabilities but distinct regional strengths.
The portfolio includes premium Marriott- and Hilton-branded hotels alongside New England inns, adding further variety to the properties managed by the combined company. Waterford says the merger also creates opportunities to pursue new acquisitions, management contracts and redevelopment projects in markets it considers high demand. Those plans sit alongside the immediate increase in the number and geographic spread of properties under management.
Len Wolman, chairman and chief executive of Waterford Hotel Group, said the company had set a goal of reaching 50 hotels within two years and had now surpassed that milestone. Robert Habeeb, founder and chief executive of Maverick Hotels & Restaurants, said the partnership would build on both organisations’ achievements and create additional opportunities for owners and investors. Their comments frame the deal as both a scale-building transaction and a platform for further business development.
The merger also adds career-growth and leadership-development opportunities for associates across the two organisations, which share a people-first approach to hospitality. Waterford’s nearly 40-year operating history and Maverick’s focus on property value, guest experience and food-led hospitality now sit within one larger management structure. The immediate implication is a broader base from which Waterford can compete for properties and contracts while retaining a diverse mix of hotel formats.
