The milestone comes five years after Avelo Airlines began flying, as the carrier combines smaller airports, nonstop routes and low fares to broaden its customer base.
Avelo Airlines has flown its 10 millionth customer, marking a significant point in the five-year history of Avelo, which began operations on April 28, 2021. The carrier said the milestone reflects demand for affordable fares, convenient nonstop service and a simpler travel experience. Avelo reported the achievement on August 4, 2026, while describing continued customer, operational and financial momentum.
The airline’s proposition is built around using smaller, less crowded airports serving major metropolitan areas. Avelo says that approach can give travellers a closer starting point while reducing parking and other travel costs, alongside its everyday low fares. The model places airport convenience and price transparency at the centre of the carrier’s appeal rather than relying solely on service from the largest hubs.
Since taking flight, Avelo said it has operated almost 80,000 flights and now serves 37 nonstop destinations across 15 states, as well as Aguadilla and San Juan in Puerto Rico. It also reported more than 1,000 Crewmembers and said it has contributed to direct and indirect airport-related jobs. The airline’s current fleet consists of 16 Boeing Next Generation 737 aircraft, according to the release.
The company is also extending its offer beyond the basic fare. Customers can pay for options including Stretch+ seats with extra legroom, while children aged 14 and under are automatically seated with an accompanying adult at no additional cost. Avelo also points to its Avelo PLUS membership programme and recently launched World Elite Mastercard, which provide travel-related benefits such as discounted fares, priority boarding and selected baggage or seating perks.
Avelo’s next aircraft development is scheduled for 2028, when the airline says it will become the first US airline to fly Embraer’s 195-E2, a 140-seat mainline aircraft arranged in a two-by-two configuration. The carrier placed an order for up to 100 of the aircraft in September 2025. The 10 million-customer milestone therefore positions Avelo’s growth around both the reach of its existing network and a stated plan to add capacity and choice over time.
