Travel And Tour World, also known as TTW, has ranked the 50 safest travel destinations around the world for 2026 as geopolitical tensions influence how travellers assess international trips. Canada tops the list, followed by Australia, Switzerland, Japan and the United States. The ranking places stability, governance, infrastructure and traveller confidence at the centre of destination choice.
The list spans countries across Europe, Asia-Pacific, North America, the Caribbean, Africa and South America. Northern and Western European destinations feature prominently, while Japan and Singapore represent Asia-Pacific hubs associated in the ranking with security and efficiency. Mauritius and the Maldives are highlighted as island destinations positioned as peaceful escapes.
Canada is ranked first and is presented as a destination combining political stability, infrastructure, multicultural appeal and varied experiences. Its suggested attractions include Banff National Park, Niagara Falls, Vancouver, Québec City and Montreal, alongside destinations such as Whistler, Ottawa, Prince Edward Island and Yukon. Australia ranks second, with Sydney, Melbourne, the Great Barrier Reef and Uluru among the experiences identified.
The ranking also includes Switzerland in third place, Japan in fourth and the United States in fifth. France, New Zealand, Spain, Greece and Ireland complete the top 10, while China, Germany, the United Kingdom, Singapore and Italy appear within the top 15. Anup Kumar Keshan, TTW’s founder and editor-in-chief, said that instability in Latin America and conflicts involving the United States, Israel and Iran are reshaping travel patterns, with travellers increasingly avoiding high-risk regions. The ranking gives that shift a structured reference point, although its descriptions reflect TTW’s own assessment rather than a stated universal safety standard. For Travel And Tour World, the project extends its series of destination rankings while connecting travel planning with broader concerns about predictability and security.
