The Michigan retailer is offering qualifying customers free cannabis products after Spirit Airlines’ shutdown, linking a short promotion to community-focused brand positioning.
JARS Cannabis and All-Star Brands introduced a limited-time initiative for people affected by Spirit Airlines’ shutdown, offering eligible customers one free product at participating Michigan locations. The promotion was reported as running from May 7 through May 15, 2026, and was aimed at travellers whose plans were cancelled as well as Spirit employees facing job loss. The campaign places a cannabis retailer inside a broader moment of travel and employment disruption, using product support as a form of local outreach.
The offer was structured around verification rather than a general giveaway. Customers were asked to present documentation showing that they had been affected, including an employee identification card, proof of a cancelled flight or similar evidence. Participation was limited to people aged 21 or older, reflecting the legal-age requirement stated in the release. JARS also said its Colorado locations would feature promotional offers, although the participating brands would vary by market.
In Michigan, the free products came from a selected group of brands named in the announcement: Jungle Juice, edible gem, Mr. Vapor Soar and Spyder Legs. The release did not specify individual product formats, quantities or a retail value for the offer. Instead, it positioned the initiative as a straightforward way for affected customers to redeem a product through JARS locations during the stated promotional period.
JARS COO Raymond Abro described the campaign as a response to sudden disruption and connected it to the company’s Michigan roots. He also said the business was dealing with changes to cannabis tax policy, framing the promotion as the retailer’s way of showing up for the community while acknowledging its own operating pressures. That combination gives the initiative a dual purpose: immediate assistance for a defined group and a public expression of the company’s community-focused identity.
The announcement also placed the promotion within JARS’ wider retail footprint. The company described itself as a privately held, multi-state cannabis retailer operating recreational storefronts in Arizona, Colorado and Michigan, with its headquarters in Troy, Michigan. It reported having established operations in 2020 and grown to 54 retail storefronts across the United States, alongside approximately 6,000 product stock-keeping units from more than 250 cannabis brands. Against that backdrop, the Spirit-related offer was a focused, time-bound intervention rather than a change to JARS’ broader retail model.
