The aircraft is awaiting final FAA review before entering charter service, extending Hop-A-Jet’s super-midsize offering and broadening its management capabilities.
Hop-A-Jet Worldwide Jet Charter has added a Gulfstream G280 to its fleet, extending its flight services and aircraft-management portfolio with a super-midsize aircraft. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based company said the jet has completed onboarding for inclusion on its FAA Part 135 certificate and remains under final FAA review. The aircraft is expected to enter charter service in the near future, subject to that process.
The addition places the G280 alongside Hop-A-Jet Worldwide Jet Charter’s established Learjet and Challenger platforms as the company expands the range of aircraft available for private travel. The release described the G280 as suited to regional and transcontinental missions, citing its spacious cabin, operational flexibility and ability to connect major business centres and leisure destinations. The announcement therefore centres on expanding choice within the company’s existing charter and management activities rather than introducing a new service category.
According to the release, the G280 has a range of up to approximately 3,600 nautical miles, a certified ceiling of 45,000 feet and a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.84. Its interior includes a stand-up cabin and flat floors, while the aircraft’s typical configuration is intended to accommodate work, rest and family or leisure travel. The release also highlighted baggage capacity for personal luggage, business materials, golf clubs, skis and other specialised items.
Hop-A-Jet said the aircraft’s arrival is part of an ongoing fleet expansion. The company announced in June 2026 that it had added a Citation X under management and said further announcements covering additional aircraft types were expected throughout 2026. President Barry Ellis characterised the G280 as an operational step that expands the Part 135 charter fleet, creates new pilot-training opportunities and strengthens the company’s experience with Gulfstream aircraft.
The release also linked the G280 addition to continued investment in pilot training, maintenance capabilities and technical expertise, while stating that the aircraft broadens the range of aircraft operated by Hop-A-Jet. Founded in 1976, the company provides on-demand charter, aircraft-management and maintenance solutions, according to its release. With the G280 still awaiting final FAA review, its immediate significance is as an addition to the company’s planned charter capacity rather than a confirmed change to current availability.
