SAFE Structure Designs has secured multiple contracts to design, engineer and manufacture specialised tooling and test stands for the U.S. Air Force’s T-38 Talon aircraft. The equipment will support Yulista Integrated Solutions’ T-38 Talon Repair, Inspection and Maintenance programme, connecting a specialist manufacturer with a long-term military aircraft sustainment effort. The work illustrates how maintenance infrastructure, rather than aircraft production alone, remains central to extending the useful service of established defence platforms.
The contracts cover the rebuilding and modernisation of legacy tooling that SAFE Structure Designs says had become outdated or unavailable while remaining necessary for testing, calibration and maintenance. The affected equipment will be used with T-38 engines, transmissions and other aircraft components. By focusing on support equipment, the programme addresses a practical constraint in military aviation: maintaining the tools required to inspect and repair aircraft can be as important as maintaining the aircraft themselves.
The newly engineered test stands will support Yulista’s work under the T-38 programme awarded by the U.S. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center. SAFE Structure Designs says Yulista selected the company after reviewing its engineering capability, certified quality system and record of delivering precise, cost-effective results. Its AS9100-certified quality programme and ability to work to demanding timelines were also identified as factors in the selection.
