Peru’s tourism promotion agency recorded its highest-ever meeting total at IMEX America, highlighting the country’s push to convert cultural appeal into business events growth.
PROMPERÚ, the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism, recorded its strongest presence to date at IMEX America 2025, with more than 400 scheduled meetings and consistently full presentations. The event, held in Las Vegas from October 7–9, marked Peru’s 13th consecutive participation at the trade show. The result gives the agency a stronger platform to position Peru as a destination for incentive travel, executive retreats and international congresses.
The performance came as IMEX America attracted more than 6,000 buyers from 74 countries and over 17,000 participants, generating more than 92,000 one-to-one and group appointments. Within that broader marketplace, PROMPERU said Peru achieved its highest-ever number of scheduled meetings, reflecting sustained interest in its incentive and congress capabilities. Every presentation delivered by the Peruvian delegation reached full capacity, with sessions followed by extended discussions with buyers and media.
Peru’s presence centred on its Meaningful Meetings proposition, which presents business events as opportunities to create cultural, environmental and community impact alongside strong logistics. The delegation used mirrored LED walls, a retablo installation, Pisco cultural showcases and a curated culinary tasting series to demonstrate the country’s experiential offer. Representatives included hotels, destination management companies and the Lima and Iquitos convention bureaux, creating a broad showcase of the national MICE ecosystem.
The results point to a destination-marketing strategy that combines infrastructure with cultural differentiation rather than treating the two as separate selling points. PROMPERÚ highlighted Lima’s position as a Pacific-facing capital, the country’s convention and hotel capacity, and the ability to connect programmes across the Andes, Amazon and Pacific coast. The agency also identified rising demand from North American and Latin American markets, while using the fair to explore potential partnerships and market segments.
PROMPERÚ’s next step is targeted follow-up with qualified leads, alongside further congress and incentive proposals and prioritised familiarisation itineraries for 2026. The organisation said it would support Peruvian partners in converting early-stage opportunities into confirmed business. That process will determine whether the attention generated at IMEX America develops into measurable bookings, but the event has strengthened Peru’s case for meetings built around place, purpose and cultural depth.
