Kanazawa Biyori is promoting a limited-period Pokémon transformation at Noto Satoyama Airport, linking entertainment, transport and post-earthquake regional renewal.
Kanazawa Biyori has announced that Noto Satoyama Airport in Ishikawa, Japan, is scheduled to reopen as the Noto Satoyama Pokémon With You Airport on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. The project is planned to run through the end of September 2029 and is organised by Ishikawa Prefecture and the Pokémon With You Foundation. The announcement places a globally recognised entertainment property inside a regional airport, giving Noto a tourism-facing project tied directly to its recovery efforts.
The airport project follows the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake, with the Pokémon With You Foundation described as an initiative established to bring smiles and renewed energy to affected communities. The release frames the airport as a regional expression rather than a standalone attraction, connecting Pokémon imagery with Noto’s landscape and local identity. It also presents the site as the only airport in the world to officially bear the Pokémon name, a claim made by the release.
Visitors are expected to encounter original decorations, a new airport logo and a first-floor installation based on Akarui Mirai, an artwork created in 2024 in support of Noto’s recovery efforts. Three-dimensional monuments of Pikachu, Plusle and Minun are planned for the arrival lobby, while three original short videos will be available throughout the airport. The décor is also set to feature all 111 Flying-type Pokémon identified as of May 2026, excluding Mega Evolutions, Regional Forms and similar variants.
The project extends beyond the terminal. Second-floor gift shop Serendipity is set to offer merchandise inspired by the new Kibou no Sora artwork, including T-shirts, keychains and luggage tags, while third-floor Restaurant Annon plans two original pancake dishes and two drinks. An observation deck installation called Pikachu no Satoyama will depict Pikachu gathered into a satoyama landscape inspired by Noto. From mid-July, the release says, two Pokémon-wrapped buses operated by the Hokuriku Tetsudo Group are planned to connect the airport with Kanazawa Station, Wajima City and selected destinations in the region.
Taken together, the announcement shows how a temporary branded environment can combine airport design, merchandise, food service and local transport within one destination offer. The release does not provide visitor forecasts or financial projections, but its scope indicates an attempt to make the airport part of a broader Noto itinerary rather than an isolated terminal experience. For Kanazawa Biyori, the project also reinforces its stated role as a regional media platform sharing Hokuriku’s culture, people and evolving identity with audiences in Japan and beyond.
