The company’s Lounge & Learn programme combines packaging technologies with sessions on sustainability, supply-chain pressures and changing expectations for brand owners.
American Packaging Corporation will host its Lounge & Learn hospitality and education showcase during PACK EXPO International 2026 in Chicago, bringing together industry discussions and demonstrations of three flexible packaging technologies. APC said the two-day programme will examine market forces affecting the category while highlighting solutions intended to improve package performance, consumer convenience and sustainability outcomes. The format places product development alongside practical discussion of the commercial pressures facing packaging teams.
The programme reflects a packaging market dealing with supply-chain disruption, changing trade conditions and expanding expectations around material recovery. One session will consider how global trade shifts, US import tariffs and disruption in key shipping channels could affect flexible packaging in 2027. Another will focus on Extended Producer Responsibility legislation in the United States and the financial and operational implications that packaging choices can create for brand owners.
APC’s technology showcase will include ValvPak®, a liquid pouch format with one-handed dispensing and an automatic reseal designed to help prevent drips, leaks and exposure to air or contaminants. The company said the patented valve system can be used for products including sauces, condiments, personal-care products and household liquids, while using less plastic and reducing package weight compared with pouches that use rigid fitments. Matte Luxe combines a matte appearance with an all-polyethylene structure designed to be recycled where facilities exist, while LinearEdge is designed to provide a controlled opening without laser scoring or post-production perforation.
The three examples show how flexible packaging development is being framed around several demands at once: ease of use, shelf presentation, manufacturing practicality and material strategy. Matte Luxe offers machine-direction and biaxial-orientation film options, while LinearEdge uses machine-direction orientation to support package strength and supply-chain flexibility in the United States. Both structures are designed for recycling where appropriate facilities exist, keeping the sustainability proposition qualified by local infrastructure.
APC’s event therefore connects technical demonstrations with the operational questions that packaging buyers must address before selecting a format. The company’s wider positioning combines flexible packaging innovation with investment in facilities, sustainable products and customer support, and it operates six US Centers of Excellence with approximately 1,400 employees. By pairing its Lounge & Learn sessions with specific packaging applications, APC is presenting its PACK EXPO presence as both a showcase and a forum for industry decision-making.
