The destination welcomed nearly 3.8 million visitors in 2025 as stronger connectivity, premium accommodation and experiential travel reshaped its growth model.
Los Cabos Tourism Board says the destination welcomed nearly 3.8 million visitors in 2025, representing almost 130% growth in arrivals over the past decade. The performance reflects a tourism strategy focused less on maximising volume than on attracting higher-value travellers through luxury development, wellness, sustainability and personalised experiences. That approach positions Los Cabos as a destination seeking to expand its economic contribution while managing the pace and character of tourism growth.
The shift is visible in the destination’s accommodation figures. Average Daily Rate reached $440 in 2025, compared with $286 in 2017, while Revenue Per Available Room increased from $203 to $306. Average annual occupancy remained at 70%, according to the tourism board, which presents the figures as evidence of a development model built around pricing strength and sustained demand rather than visitor numbers alone.
Hotel inventory has grown from 15,000 rooms in 2016 to more than 22,000, with approximately 80% in the five-star category. Air connectivity has also expanded by nearly 46% between 2016 and 2025, with Los Cabos now connected to 42 international airports, including 32 in the United States. Routes from Nashville, Kansas City, Ontario and Orange County sit alongside established gateways such as Los Angeles, Dallas, Phoenix, New York, Chicago, Denver and Atlanta, while direct service from Frankfurt and Panama City broadens the international network.
The destination’s importance extends beyond hotels and air links. Tourism contributes approximately $7.7 billion to the regional economy, while about one-third of visitor spending reaches sectors beyond traditional tourism, including retail, transportation and health services. The tourism board also says the sector supports roughly two out of three jobs in Los Cabos when direct and indirect employment are counted, with more than 44,000 positions directly connected to the industry.
For 2026 and beyond, Los Cabos Tourism Board is prioritising diversified markets and premium segments including luxury, golf, gastronomy, wellness and sustainability. New luxury developments and infrastructure investments scheduled through 2026 and beyond are described as signs of continued confidence from international brands and investors. The destination’s next phase therefore rests on converting strong visitor demand into broader community value while retaining the quality-led positioning that has defined its development over the past decade.
