The airport-wide deployment illustrates how locally managed computer vision is being applied to improve visibility, safety and coordination across complex ground operations.
Ezeiza International Airport has entered into an agreement with Synaptic Aviation, Inc. to deploy the company’s AI-powered ramp visibility platform across all passenger gates. The airport will use more than 60 on-premises cameras to provide continuous visibility into ramp operations and aircraft turnaround activities. Synaptic Aviation said the deployment follows a 90-day proof-of-concept period and was tailored to Ezeiza’s operational, security and data-sovereignty requirements.
The system is designed to help airport teams monitor operational milestones, identify process deviations and apply data-driven insights to safety, on-time performance and efficiency. Ezeiza intends to share information captured by the system with airlines and ground handlers operating at the airport, extending access to ramp-related data beyond the airport team. The arrangement places computer vision within the operational layer of an international gateway rather than limiting its use to isolated trials.
According to Aeropuertos Argentina, Ezeiza is Argentina’s largest and busiest international gateway and the primary hub for international air travel in and out of Buenos Aires. The airport handled approximately 12 million passengers in 2024, representing about 27% of the 42.2 million passengers managed across Aeropuertos Argentina’s network. EZE operates an average of 204 daily flights, serves 32 passenger airlines and has 36 international and 26 domestic routes.
The deployment was jointly carried out by Luciano Verri, corporate IT manager; Mariano Bonora, IT manager at Ezeiza; and Pablo Quetglas, CCO manager at EZE. The team aligned operational and safety requirements, defined evaluation metrics and sponsored the implementation. Mariano Bonora said the on-premises model supports Argentina’s data and security standards, while Synaptic Aviation president Sal Salman described the locally managed approach as a way to balance real-time performance, security and adaptability.
For Synaptic Aviation, the project broadens its presence across airport and airline operations in North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America. For Ezeiza, it creates a shared operational view of activity around passenger gates while keeping the underlying deployment on site. The combination of AI analytics, existing camera infrastructure and controlled data management points to a measured approach to technology adoption in a safety-sensitive environment.
