Busch Gardens is expanding its Howl-O-Scream lineup with haunted houses inspired by Anaconda, reflecting the growing role of recognizable film franchises in creating more immersive seasonal experiences.
Busch Gardens is introducing two new haunted houses based on the Sony Pictures film Anaconda as part of this year’s Howl-O-Scream events at its Tampa Bay and Williamsburg parks. The collaboration marks the first time the movie has been officially licensed for a Halloween attraction, illustrating how theme parks continue to blend established entertainment franchises with immersive, location-based experiences to attract both longtime fans and new visitors.
Rather than recreating scenes from the film, each park will present its own original storyline set within the Anaconda universe. Guests at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay will enter Anaconda: Fear Has No Escape, while visitors to Busch Gardens Williamsburg will experience Anaconda: Dead on Arrival. Both attractions place participants in the Amazon rainforest on a search for a missing film crew before the mission evolves into a struggle for survival, offering different interpretations of the same source material while preserving its central themes of suspense and isolation.
The addition reflects a broader trend across the themed entertainment industry, where recognizable intellectual property has become an increasingly important part of seasonal events. Familiar films and television series offer visitors an immediate connection to an attraction while allowing parks to expand beyond traditional haunted houses built around original concepts. By combining established stories with live actors, detailed sets, and interactive environments, operators aim to create experiences that extend beyond what audiences encounter on screen.
Howl-O-Scream has grown into one of Busch Gardens’ signature seasonal offerings, combining haunted houses, scare zones, live entertainment, and nighttime access to many of the parks’ major attractions. The introduction of the Anaconda-inspired experiences joins a lineup that continues to evolve each year, reflecting visitor demand for new themes and increasingly immersive forms of entertainment. Seasonal events have also become an important part of how many regional theme parks encourage repeat visits beyond the traditional summer travel season.
As competition among destination attractions continues to intensify, partnerships between film studios and theme parks are becoming an effective way to keep familiar stories relevant while offering audiences something they cannot experience through streaming or cinema alone. For Busch Gardens, bringing Anaconda into Howl-O-Scream represents another example of how classic entertainment properties can find new life through immersive, real-world storytelling.
