The Washington hotel is pairing festive family activities, themed drinks and a local toy drive to broaden its holiday offer beyond overnight stays.
Capital Hilton is positioning its Washington property as a seasonal destination with family activities, festive food and drink, and a toy donation drive supporting children in the local area. The programme includes a lobby scavenger hunt, a December Christmas Village, holiday-themed cocktails and a New Year’s Day brunch. Together, the initiatives extend the hotel’s holiday proposition from accommodation into a broader winter experience for visitors and local guests.
The family programming is centred on the lobby. Guests can search for 12 hidden nutcracker dolls, photograph each one and show the images at the front desk to receive a holiday prize redeemable at The Grind or The Statler Lounge. During December, the hotel’s Christmas Village will provide a space decorated with lights and seasonal décor, alongside classic Christmas films and a North Pole Letter Station for younger visitors.
Food and beverage features will run throughout December at the Statler Lounge, including the Holiday 75 with Bombay Sapphire gin, lemon juice, simple syrup and Moët & Chandon Imperial Brut. Other offerings include a Honey Pumpkin Whiskey Smash, Toasted Tequila Old Fashioned, Apple Cider Mule and the non-alcoholic Cheer Spritz. North Gate Grill will also serve a special mimosa brunch from 9 to 11 a.m. on New Year’s Day, giving the programme a defined calendar touchpoint beyond the Christmas period.
The hotel is also linking its seasonal activity to community support through a toy donation drive organised with Mary’s Center, a Washington-area community health centre. Guests can donate new, unused toys at the front desk or purchase items through Mary’s Center’s Amazon Wishlist. The organisation serves more than 65,000 people of all ages, incomes and backgrounds in the Washington, DC metro area, according to Capital Hilton.
The programme reflects how a city hotel can use its public spaces, restaurants and community relationships to create reasons to visit during a concentrated holiday period. Capital Hilton, located at 1001 16th Street NW and two blocks from the White House and National Mall, is putting that approach into a mix of low-barrier family activities, seasonal dining and charitable participation. The restrained implication is a hospitality offer designed to serve both staying guests and the wider Washington community.
