The purchase of Finnish cabin maker Space of Mind broadens Nokken’s hospitality offer from accommodation into wellness, ritual and recovery spaces.
Nokken has acquired Finnish cabin maker Space of Mind, bringing its modular cabin and sauna range into a platform focused on hospitality, retreats and wellness-led experiences. The deal extends Nokken’s existing cabin products and Softshell system while adding a ready-to-deploy range shaped around Nordic craft, lightweight construction and compact spaces. It also gives the company a clearer route into design-led wellness infrastructure for hotels, resorts, spas and retreat destinations.
Space of Mind specialises in modular cabins designed for wellbeing, creativity and relaxation, with products intended for private, hospitality and spa applications. Its cabins use modern construction techniques and can be flat-packed, a characteristic that allows them to reach more remote locations, according to Nokken. The Finnish company’s sauna product is designed and built in Finland, providing the acquired range with a distinct manufacturing and design heritage.
Under the new structure, Space of Mind’s products will be absorbed into the Nokken ecosystem rather than positioned as a separate extension of the business. Nokken describes the acquisition as part of a broader modular hospitality and retreat platform in which architecture, wellness and ritual are developed together. The company says the combined offer will allow hospitality clients to integrate low-impact wellness infrastructure alongside accommodation, with potential applications across guest stays, spas and retreat settings.
The transaction illustrates how modular hospitality suppliers are broadening the role of compact structures beyond overnight accommodation. Nokken’s existing proposition combines configurable architecture, brand design and operating support for tourism, hospitality and residential projects, while Space of Mind adds a more defined recovery and sauna dimension. Together, the ranges give Nokken a wider product vocabulary without requiring the company to move away from its emphasis on design, environmental considerations and access to natural settings.
Craig McDonald, Nokken’s chief executive, said Space of Mind’s origins align with the group’s design-led approach and its focus on sustainability and wellbeing. Co-founder James Van Tromp described the acquired range as fully developed and market-proven, with a design language that can integrate with Nokken and Softshell. For Nokken, the immediate significance lies in joining accommodation and wellness products within one commercial platform, strengthening its ability to serve destinations where the guest experience extends beyond the cabin itself.
