The outdoor technology company is offering free, fully equipped 36-hour trips from Los Angeles to make nature breaks easier to plan and access.
Dometic is offering Los Angeles residents the chance to leave the city for free, gear-equipped 36-hour getaways for two. The experience places participants in premium off-road vehicles stocked with outdoor equipment, with a reserved campsite in Joshua Tree and a curated itinerary included. Seventeen trips are available through the promotion, which was announced on April 14, 2026. The programme frames convenience as the central proposition: participants receive the vehicle, equipment, food and plan rather than having to assemble an escape themselves.
The announcement reflects a tension Dometic identifies between urban life and access to the outdoors. Its release cites a projection that nearly seven in 10 people globally will live in cities by 2050, alongside research stating that more than 90% of people place high personal importance on spending time outdoors. Those figures are presented as context for an experience designed to reduce the preparation and logistical barriers associated with camping or road-based travel. Rather than introducing another standalone product, the initiative packages Dometic’s equipment into a complete short break.
The vehicles, supplied by Lexus, Toyota and Ford, are equipped with sleeping gear, portable power, cooking equipment and hydration products. The listed setup includes Dometic’s Rooftop Tent TRT 140 Air, GO Camp accessories, PLB15 Portable Battery, GO Hydration Jug and CFX5 45L Electric Cooler, alongside Front Runner equipment. Dometic says the cooler will carry a seasonal, chef-prepared menu, while the trip also includes a campsite in Joshua Tree and 24/7 expert support. The company notes that gear may vary by vehicle, but each rig is intended to be fully stocked for the journey.
Los Angeles serves as the campaign’s first location, according to the release, because of the city’s traffic pressures and its relationship with outdoor destinations beyond the urban area. Dometic cites TomTom data saying drivers in Los Angeles lost 83 hours to traffic in 2025 and that the city ranked first in the United States for traffic congestion. The company’s chief marketing officer, Peter Jannerö, describes the project as an expression of Dometic’s purpose of helping more people connect with nature. The strategy therefore links product demonstration with a managed experience, showing how a broad equipment portfolio can support a single use case.
The giveaway window runs from April 14 through April 24, 2026, with the release directing people to Dometic’s campaign page for details and bookings of adventure-ready rigs. The offer makes the brand’s mobile-living proposition tangible by placing its cooling, power, shelter and cooking products in one coordinated setting. Its significance rests less in the number of trips than in the way the company reduces the distance between wanting an outdoor break and organising one. For Dometic, the campaign presents access, preparation and equipment as parts of the same outdoor experience.
