The Jordan Tourism Board is using the country’s first FIFA World Cup appearance to place its culture, landscapes and hospitality before a global audience.
The Jordan Tourism Board, also known as JTB, is positioning Jordan’s first FIFA World Cup appearance as a significant moment for the country’s tourism story. Jordan qualified for the 2026 tournament on June 5, 2025, after a 3-0 victory over Oman, and is one of four nations making its World Cup debut. The board said the tournament will introduce millions of viewers to Jordan’s history, culture and hospitality as the national team competes in North America.
Jordan enters the competition after finishing as runner-up at the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, with its squad led by head coach Jamal Sellami and captain Ihsan Haddad. Group J matches are scheduled for June 16 against Austria and June 22 against Algeria at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, followed by a June 27 meeting with Argentina at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The fixtures give the tourism board a defined series of moments around which to present the destination to football audiences and local communities.
The board’s description of Jordan extends beyond Petra, the UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. The release highlights Wadi Rum’s desert landscapes, the Dead Sea, Amman’s food and café culture, diving in Aqaba and the Jordan Trail. It also notes that Royal Jordanian operates nonstop services to Amman from New York-JFK, Chicago, Washington, DC, Detroit, Montreal and, from May 2026, Dallas-Fort Worth, while US travellers can obtain a visa on arrival and use the Jordan Pass for the visa fee, Petra entry and admission to more than 40 sites.
The campaign will extend into physical fan experiences in the United States. Jordan House is scheduled for June 25–27 at the Levitt Center in Arlington, Texas, across from Arlington City Hall, with match screenings, Jordanian food, performances, cultural demonstrations, children’s activities and heritage-focused experiences. A separate Jordan House event is scheduled for June 21–22 at the San Jose Convention Center around the Jordan-Algeria match, while community events in Northern California are being organised by the Jordanian Fans Association of San Francisco with support from the tourism board.
For the Jordan Tourism Board, the World Cup announcement links a national sporting milestone with a concentrated international showcase for the destination. The board describes hospitality as a central part of what visitors take home, alongside the country’s historical and natural attractions. With celebrations planned around all three group matches, the tournament provides a platform for Jordan to present a broader tourism identity while the team makes its first appearance on football’s largest stage.
