Villa Vie Residences is adding Legacy to its planned fleet, linking a second ship, expanded ownership options and continued demand for permanent life at sea.
Villa Vie Residences has announced Legacy, its second residential cruise ship, with the vessel expected to enter service in early 2029. Villa Vie said the official unveiling will take place during Odyssey’s Two-Year Sailaversary Celebration, marking two years of continuous world cruising. The announcement comes as Villa Vie Odyssey has surpassed 85% of its available residences sold, positioning the company to expand from a single-ship operation into a two-ship fleet.
The announcement reflects a residential-cruise model in which accommodation is tied to long-term travel rather than a conventional holiday itinerary. Villa Vie said Legacy will be developed as a premium sister ship to Odyssey, while prospective residents who want its larger accommodations would otherwise face a wait of nearly three years before the new vessel enters service. The company is therefore presenting the two ships as connected options rather than separate purchasing decisions.
According to the release, Legacy is expected to offer residences approximately 50% larger than comparable accommodations aboard Odyssey, alongside expanded dining venues, larger public spaces, enhanced wellness facilities and additional luxury amenities. Ownership pricing and monthly maintenance are anticipated to average approximately 30% higher than Odyssey, reflecting the ship’s larger residences and expanded onboard offering. Villa Vie also said current and future participants in its Endless Horizons lifetime residency programme will receive permanent residency rights aboard Legacy when the ship enters service, without an additional purchase price, upgrade fee or transition cost.
The company is also introducing a Legacy Bridge Programme intended to connect immediate access to Odyssey with a later move to Legacy. Only 24 positions will be offered, corresponding to the 24 months of Odyssey’s continuous operation, and the release said the first 24 new ownership purchases completed on or before September 30, 2026, will qualify. Participants are promised immediate residency aboard Odyssey, a guaranteed right to transition to a comparable Legacy residence in early 2029, no additional purchase price for that transition and Odyssey maintenance rates aboard Legacy.
Villa Vie said its Road to Legacy campaign will provide teaser imagery, behind-the-scenes updates and a countdown to the unveiling. The company has framed the second ship as part of a longer-term strategy to develop a fleet offering multiple ownership options and residential experiences while maintaining continuous world travel. With Odyssey’s reported sales level providing the immediate backdrop, Legacy gives Villa Vie a way to extend that proposition to customers seeking larger accommodation without abandoning the company’s existing live-at-sea model.
