The Saudi Tourism Authority has introduced Package Visa, a new digital initiative that integrates tourist visa applications directly into travel bookings, reducing the number of steps required for international visitors planning a trip. Initially launching through qualified travel and tourism providers in selected international markets, the program represents another stage in Saudi’s effort to modernize its tourism infrastructure while making the country easier to visit for leisure travelers.
Rather than requiring visitors to arrange flights, accommodations, and visa applications through separate channels, the new system combines these elements into a single booking process. Eligible travelers can also include activities, events, and tourism experiences as part of the same itinerary, creating a more streamlined planning experience. The approach reflects a broader trend across the global travel industry, where integrated digital services are increasingly replacing fragmented booking systems that often require multiple platforms and separate applications.
The initiative builds on several measures Saudi has introduced since launching its tourist e-Visa program. Over recent years, the country has expanded entry options through visa-on-arrival programs and the Stopover Transit Visa, aiming to reduce administrative barriers for international visitors. According to the announcement, these changes contributed to Saudi welcoming more than 29 million inbound visitors during 2025, underscoring the country’s rapid emergence as a larger player in global tourism.
The Package Visa program is also designed to support travel companies by allowing qualified providers to offer more comprehensive vacation packages while simplifying the customer journey. Participation is limited to providers that meet defined service standards and offer around-the-clock customer support, an effort intended to maintain consistency and reliability as the program expands. By integrating visa processing into commercial travel packages, Saudi is encouraging closer collaboration between government systems and the tourism industry.
The announcement reflects Saudi’s wider ambition to position tourism as a major pillar of its economic diversification strategy.
