A new partnership between Nammos Hotels & Resorts and Smokva Bay aims to transform a stretch of Montenegro’s Adriatic coast into a high-end destination blending hospitality, residences, dining, and wellness.
Nammos Hotels & Resorts has announced a partnership with Smokva Bay to develop Nammos Resort Montenegro, a large-scale luxury destination on Montenegro’s Budva Riviera. Planned to open in 2029, the project reflects the continued rise of the Adriatic coast as an emerging hub for premium tourism, with developers increasingly investing in destinations that combine accommodation, lifestyle experiences, and residential offerings rather than traditional resort models.
Located near the island of Sveti Stefan, the development will include 117 guest accommodations made up of hotel rooms, suites, private residences, and villas. According to the announcement, the architecture will draw inspiration from Mediterranean and Cycladic design, emphasizing natural light, sea views, and a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living spaces. The project also extends beyond lodging, incorporating multiple restaurants, retail spaces, wellness facilities, and outdoor recreation intended to create a destination that functions as a self-contained coastal community.
Dining and leisure are central to the concept. In addition to the brand’s signature beachfront restaurant, the resort will feature an all-day Mediterranean restaurant, a lounge designed for social gatherings, and a rooftop venue overlooking the Adriatic. Plans also include a wellness center, fitness facilities, swimming pools, hiking and mountain biking trails, and private event spaces, reflecting a broader industry trend toward resorts that balance relaxation with curated lifestyle experiences.
Before construction is complete, the partnership will introduce a seasonal preview of the brand through a temporary Nammos restaurant in Sveti Stefan during the 2026 season. While temporary activations have become increasingly common in hospitality, they also serve as a way for operators to build familiarity with a destination and establish a presence well before a flagship property opens its doors.
The announcement highlights Montenegro’s growing appeal within the Mediterranean luxury travel market. Long recognized for its dramatic coastline and historic towns, the country has attracted increasing investment from international hospitality brands seeking alternatives to more established resort destinations. If completed as planned, the Nammos Resort Montenegro project will add another high-profile development to that evolving landscape, reinforcing the country’s ambition to become a year-round destination for upscale international travelers.
