The launch of iClever’s certified kids’ headphones highlights a broader shift from simple volume limits toward products designed to encourage healthier listening habits as personal audio use grows among children.
iClever has introduced the Q950, a new pair of children’s headphones positioned around hearing protection as much as entertainment. The company says the product is the first kids’ headphone model to receive TÜV Rheinland Hearing Care Certification, arriving at a time when concerns about prolonged headphone use among young listeners continue to grow. Citing estimates from the World Health Organization, the announcement notes that nearly one billion young people worldwide are at risk of preventable hearing loss linked to unsafe listening practices, underscoring the importance of products that address both convenience and long-term hearing health.
Rather than relying solely on a maximum volume cap, the Q950 incorporates several features intended to reduce the need for children to increase listening levels in noisy environments. The headphones include an 80 dBA volume limit, hybrid active noise cancellation capable of reducing surrounding noise by up to 35 decibels, and a hearing-focused audio system the company calls SafeSound™. According to iClever, the certification process evaluated not only safe listening levels but also acoustic performance, adaptive audio features, and broader hearing-care considerations.
The product also reflects changing expectations for children’s technology, where safety features are increasingly paired with premium consumer electronics capabilities. The Q950 includes wear detection that automatically pauses and resumes playback, transparency mode, Bluetooth audio sharing, support for active noise cancellation while using a wired connection, and battery life of up to 60 hours. Design considerations extend to durability and comfort, with an adjustable headband, rotating ear cups, reinforced hinges, and materials intended to withstand regular use at school, during travel, or at home. The headphones also received the 2026 Red Dot Award for Product Design.
Beyond the product itself, the launch signals a broader conversation about how manufacturers can encourage healthier technology habits without requiring families to sacrifice performance or convenience. iClever has also partnered with hearing health professionals to promote safe listening awareness and says it has donated thousands of headphones to schools across the United States. While certification alone does not eliminate the need for responsible listening practices, products that combine safety standards with practical everyday features may help make hearing protection a more natural part of children’s digital lives.
