The Vietnamese automaker is reorganizing into three distinct brand tiers while introducing high-end Lac Hong models that signal a push beyond mass-market electric vehicles.
VinFast has reorganized its automotive portfolio into three distinct brand lines and unveiled two new ultra-luxury models, the Lac Hong 800S and 900S. The move marks a strategic shift for the Vietnamese electric vehicle maker as it seeks to clarify its market positioning while expanding beyond its established mass-market offerings.
Under the new structure, VinFast’s Lac Hong line will represent its most exclusive vehicles, sitting above the VF passenger EV range and the Green brand focused on commercial mobility. The restructuring formalizes a tiered approach common among global automakers, separating high-end aspirational products from mainstream and fleet-oriented vehicles.
The newly introduced Lac Hong 800S and 900S join the previously revealed 900 LX, expanding the company’s ultra-luxury ambitions. Both vehicles emphasize bespoke design elements inspired by Vietnamese cultural symbols, including bamboo motifs and references to the Dong Son bronze drum, alongside premium materials such as Nappa leather and gold-plated detailing. The company describes the design language as intended to reflect national heritage as much as technical capability.
Beyond aesthetics, the models are positioned as technologically advanced flagships. They feature fully active suspension systems and can be configured with a tri-motor powertrain delivering up to 460 kW of combined output. Interior amenities include zero-gravity executive seating and advanced entertainment systems, with the 900S offering a privacy partition and executive workspace designed to cater to chauffeured use.
The ultra-luxury segment remains highly competitive and traditionally dominated by long-established European brands. For VinFast, entering this category signals confidence in its engineering and manufacturing maturity, even as its global expansion continues to evolve. The two models are scheduled for commercial launch in 2027, giving the company time to refine production and gauge international interest.
VinFast’s broader trajectory provides context for the announcement. The company reports delivering more than 175,000 vehicles in Vietnam in 2025, maintaining domestic market leadership. Whether the Lac Hong line can resonate beyond national pride and carve out space in the global luxury market will likely depend on execution, brand perception and sustained innovation rather than symbolism alone.
