The new POVA Curve 2 5G pairs one of the largest batteries in its segment with a 7.42mm frame, reflecting a push to reconcile power-hungry digital habits with everyday portability.
TECNO has introduced the POVA Curve 2 5G, a smartphone that pairs an 8000mAh battery with a body measuring just 7.42 millimeters thick. The Hong Kong–based brand, known for targeting value-conscious markets with feature-rich devices, is positioning the model as a response to growing demand for long-lasting performance without the bulk that typically accompanies high-capacity batteries.
Battery life has become a defining concern for smartphone users whose days revolve around streaming, gaming, navigation and AI-powered applications. An 8000mAh cell—2,500mAh larger than the previous generation in the POVA line—places the device among the higher-capacity options in its class. Yet TECNO emphasizes that the phone remains relatively lightweight at 195 grams, underscoring a design trade-off manufacturers increasingly strive to balance: endurance without sacrificing comfort.
The POVA Curve 2 5G also incorporates a 144Hz curved AMOLED display and runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 7100 5G processor, suggesting a focus on smooth visuals and stable connectivity. Features such as 45W fast charging and bypass charging aim to address heat management during extended gaming or streaming sessions. Durability elements—including IP64 dust and water resistance, drop certification and strengthened glass—signal attention to everyday resilience as well.
Artificial intelligence plays a supporting role through TECNO’s HiOS 16 interface. Built-in tools assist with summarizing content, enhancing photos and reducing call noise, while offline communication capabilities of up to 1.5 kilometers hint at functionality in limited-network scenarios. Such additions reflect how midrange smartphones increasingly compete not only on hardware specifications but also on integrated software experiences.
The device will launch in India in February 2026 before appearing at Mobile World Congress. In a crowded market where flagship models command premium prices, TECNO’s strategy appears to center on practical power and longevity—appealing to users who value stamina and connectivity as much as sleek design.
